Guest researcher Kate Scantlebury is being "pushed back to strength"

For Professor Kate Scantlebury from Delaware in the USA, staying at the Centre for Gender Research at Uppsala University means going back to her feminist roots and, in a sense, loading her batteries.

- I’ve been working with gender issues since the mid 80’s when I wrote my master’s degree in science about participation patterns among Australian women in science and engineering. But coming to the Centre was my first experience of being in a research place where everyone is focused on gender, says Kate Scantlebury.

- This is of course very energizing and allows me to reflect upon my theoretical foundations, she continues.

As Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Delaware and Director of Secondary Education in the College of Arts and Sciences, she is not necessarily surrounded by colleagues and students that share the same interest in gender research.
